Mill Hill Services Club came into being in 1923. Its purpose to help those servicemen returning after the First World War, alongside local residents, by offering a social club where members could meet and socialise on any day of the week.

Major B. B. Wills, of the well known Wills tobacco company family, was our first Chairman and it was from the Wills family crest that the Club logo is derived. In 1926 a temporary club was erected, in what was later to become Hartley Avenue, which was replaced in 1935 by a permanent Club building which stands today.

In May 1927 the Club became affiliated to the Club & Institute Union and history has shown this to have been a worthwhile asset in navigating the many rules and laws that have arisen over the years.

In a rapidly changing world Mill Hill Services Club provides a haven and sense of tradition to its six hundred and fifty plus members, who come from all sections of the local community.

Thankfully, the Club continues to be buoyant and is held in high esteem, whilst importantly maintaining the values of our founders, those being; friendship, charity and communal responsibility.
